They are for granting wishes, but be careful what you ask for. The plate is a photo I took of one of the local artists here in Belize. He does all his work with a knife and a spoon sitting under a tree in his yard. He digs his own clay and mixes it with sand and grass. When the peices dry, builds a fire in a pit with wood and burns the peices. Its called Raku, and quite delicate.
If I changed mediums, it would be to ceramics. The plates and magic jars have geckos and lizards on them. I love them, and have used them as subjects in still life paintings.
I love everything about this. The colorful sparkling eggs, the lizard plate (I love reptiles) and the colorful eggs against the grays of the dish. really pretty
I was a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown before I retired at the age of 40 and moved to Belize (17 years ago). I live 20 miles offshore on a teensy weensy tiny island called Caye Caulker, where I have an art gallery and healthy food cafe featuring my art, silk scarves, jewellery and local Belizean artists. Now, I'm a woman living in the moment accepting all the gifts that the universe has to offer.

Geckos and lizards are brilliant subjects for all forms ... including wishes :)
