What I did this week (in my spare 5 minutes)

I had a commission peice to do, and it had been a while since I've painted in watercolor, so I did some practice peices. Many years ago, I took a short course in oriental watercolor techniques, and I have to admit its my favorite style of painting, although I don't do it much. I go through these fits and streaks. Last week it was just watercolor for me. I'm a better student than I am a teacher though, I've tried teaching this technique, and words fail me. Here are the practice peices, Wild Bamboo and Dragonflies.

Here's the commission peice.

Lee: I'm sharing this post on my Blog. How absolutely phenomenal. My brother once painted a watercolor piece of a horse at sunset for my late Cousin who had two horses. I know from my sister, who is an artist, that watercolor is the most difficult to work with. Still, it fascinates me mire than chalk! Beautiful!

What absolute brilliance! I wish I could paint half as well as that! You just want to jump right into the picture and start relaxing.

TYTYTYTY all, I put it in the matt and it didn't look finished, so I made it pop out of the painting. The painting size is 12" x 16" in a 16" x 20" matt. I'm glad that I still have "the touch"

Ale, the chair is behind the laundry line, and the cabana boy is standing on it pinning out your panties.

DCver - I charge CHEAP! This is around $200 U.S.

I started painting in watercolor as a little girl (because the paints were cheap) and got pretty good by the time I was in high school. I won several regional youth art awards when in high school. In college I was a fine arts major, but back then you could only teach or starve with that degree, so I changed to technical illustration (before I quit college and got a job) more later...
